立葵の花言葉

立葵は、アオイ科ビロードアオイ属に属する花です。学名のAlthaeaは、治療を意味するラテン語が由来です。実際古くから根・花・葉全て薬用につかわれてきました。英名では神聖を表すhollyが付きますが、それはパレスチナにこの花がたくさん咲いていたからとも言われています。日本でもなじみ深い花で、ちょうど梅雨入りのことに咲き始め、梅雨明けに下記が終わることから、梅雨葵という名前もあります。一般の花言葉は「豊穣」です。
